Episode Guide: 311
Andromeda gives Dylan a routine physical examination, the results of which are mostly fine, though she manages to give him a hard time about not being as fit as he used to be. Suddenly the view screen in the examination room switches to a recording of Dylan's final moments with his fiancee, Sara. The recording plays continuously, despite Dylan’s best efforts.
Meanwhile, Rommie walks up to Harper in a corridor and grabs his arm, saying it is for lie detection. She asks Harper if he has the ability to do "things" to her without her knowledge. Just as Rommie is twisting Harper's arm a bit more, Harper looks past her and sees a cat. He informs Rommie of this, but she doesn’t believe him. As the cat starts to move they both follow it into a machine shop where, out of nowhere, a rift in space opens up and begins to suck in everything, including Harper. The rift closes as suddenly as it had opened up.
Back in the examination room, Dylan is still trying to find a way out when Beka bursts in. They both realize something strange is occurring, and Dylan calls a shipwide meeting, ordering everyone to the bridge.
Trance is already on the bridge, where a recording of a sun exploding is playing continuously. Disturbed by the images, she tells Andromeda to shut it off. Tyr joins the others on the bridge, saying that he just saw his child sleeping soundly.
Andromeda reports that there have been multiple attacks on nearby planets and outposts by Magog, Nietzscheans, and other groups of outlaws. The Andromeda also reports that there has been a garbled distress call from a ship in the vicinity but all she could make out was "nightmare, terror, and invisible." The cores of all the ships have been removed and just as fast as the chaos started it suddenly stopped.
Dylan, attempting to contact Rommie, is worried when she no longer responds, so he and the others search the ship. Tyr surmises that their invisible foe has caused Rommie's disappearance. As Dylan and Tyr split up another rift opens up near Tyr. Dylan shoots the singularity with his lance and it settles down.
Andromeda is finally able to contact Rommie, who is out seeking revenge against the invisible enemy. Rommie eventually finds them and the power source they are using to create the rifts. She fights them, but they overpower her and take her into captivity.
Dylan and Beka head to the Eureka and search the nearby space around the Andromeda, where Harper has detected an energy wave. After Dylan and Beka fire in that area, aliens suddenly appear and start attacking the Eureka and Andromeda. Dylan and Beka bring the Maru back.
At another meeting on the bridge, Andromeda reports that she has located Rommie on an uninhabited planet with a series of complex tunnels. Tyr is content to leave Rommie on the planet, but he is overruled.
Dylan and Tyr take Slipfighters to the planet's surface, where they work their way through terrain and fight with aliens en route to the power source. They end up near a door, and before Dylan can try to open it Tyr just shoots it open. Finding Rommie bound to part of the machine, they untie her and help her down. Rommie says that there is "something big" coming "in a hurry."
As a new rift is opening up near Andromeda, Rommie, Dylan and Tyr break up their weapons in order to make a bomb capable of destroying the machine. Dylan tells Harper to fix his "jaws of life" to use again on the dimensional tunnels being opened by the aliens.
Rommie sets the bomb and they manage to escape in Slipfighters. Dylan orders Harper to activate the device, and within seconds alien fire is bearing down on the Andromeda. The bomb then explodes and the tunnels begin to collapse. As the Andromeda moves away from the tunnels, an alien appears before Dylan, kneels, offers him a dagger and then collapses. Dylan exclaims, "I guess we passed the test."
